Η Ακαδημία Κινηματογράφου αποκάλυψε τα shortlists σε 12 κατηγορίες για τα Όσκαρ 2026, δίνοντας μια πρώτη καθαρή εικόνα για τους τίτλους που προηγούνται στην κούρσα, λίγες εβδομάδες πριν την ανακοίνωση των επίσημων υποψηφιοτήτων.
Από αυτές τις λίστες θα προκύψουν οι τελικοί υποψήφιοι σε κατηγορίες όπως Ντοκιμαντέρ, Διεθνής Ταινία, Πρωτότυπο Τραγούδι, Μουσική, Κάστινγκ (η νέα κατηγορία), αλλά και τεχνικά βραβεία όπως Φωτογραφία, Ήχος, Μακιγιάζ & Κομμώσεις και Οπτικά Εφέ. Περιλαμβάνονται επίσης και οι τρεις κατηγορίες ταινιών μικρού μήκους (Animation, Live Action και Ντοκιμαντέρ).
Τα Wicked: For Good και Sinners ηγούνται με παρουσία σε οκτώ κατηγορίες, ενώ ακολουθεί το Frankenstein με έξι. Τα Sirât, One Battle After Another και F1: The Movie συγκέντρωσαν από πέντε υποψηφιότητες, με τα Marty Supreme και Train Dreams να εμφανίζονται σε τέσσερις κατηγορίες. Πολλαπλές παρουσίες έχουν επίσης τα Hamnet και Sentimental Value.
Στην κατηγορία Ντοκιμαντέρ, ανάμεσα στους τίτλους που ξεχωρίζουν βρίσκονται τα The Alabama Solution, Apocalypse in the Tropics, The Perfect Neighbor και 2000 Meters to Andriivka.
Η ψηφοφορία για τις υποψηφιότητες θα πραγματοποιηθεί από τις 12 έως τις 16 Ιανουαρίου, ενώ οι επίσημες υποψηφιότητες θα ανακοινωθούν στις 22 Ιανουαρίου 2026. Η τελετή απονομής θα διεξαχθεί στις 15 Μαρτίου, με οικοδεσπότη για ακόμη μία χρονιά τον Conan O’Brien, και θα μεταδοθεί ζωντανά από το ABC σε περισσότερες από 200 χώρες.
